“Yeah, well, in the heat of the moment it would seem nice,” he shrugged, before laughing. “Heat, geddit? Because the house is burning,” he said, still laughing at the dry joke he just attempted to make. He cleared his throat and stopped laughing. “We should ask them to come here, since I suppose it might be little embarrassing to have ones parents just show up at your camp,” he said, nodding a little. “How does that sound?” he added quickly. Even though she said he should decide, he would always check if she was okay with it.

Sarah laughed at her husband’s joke. “You are such a dork, Francis.” She shook her head and stuck her tongue out at him. “I suppose that’s a good idea. I’d be embarrassed if I had a geeky father and he visited me at camp.” Sarah continued to tease Francis. She smiled at him before standing up and kissed him lightly before placing the now empty cup on the sink. “You know I’m only kidding.”

“But Fall is so cold,” he replied, shaking his head. They had had this conversation at least a thousand times, if not more, and they could still not agree on the same season. He laughed at that, knowing it was true. “With a burning house, we can at least have marshmallows, right?” he suggested, looking up from his cup. “They’re probably having a good time. But yeah, I miss them, too. Should we go visit them soon? Or maybe ask them to come home for dinner or something. A dinner which you will be cooking, of course, unless we should go out? What do you think?” he debated with himself a little, his awkwardness showing, before asking Sarah what she thought they should do.

“Fall is nice!” She whined. “Not too hot and sometimes not too cold.” She narrowed her eyes at him and smiled. “Yeah, cause we’d rather have marshmallows than have a house that can keep us warm when winter comes.”  She rolled her eyes and chuckled. “I’m good with all of that. Whichever you want, dear. I’ll let you decide this time. You are after all, the man of this house.” A grin ripped across her face. After all these times, Francis is still the same awkward guy he is, the same guy that Sarah fell in love with years ago.

“The sun is nice, the temperature however…” he muttered, taking another sip. He wasn’t very fond of this cold weather at all; he preferred the summer time. “Told you so,” he replied, as humble as ever. “I would love to try, but see, I have this wife who won’t let me because she thinks I’m going to burn the house down,” he explained calmly, before chuckling a bit.

“I wish it were Fall so that the sun won’t be too bright.” She mumbled and brought her legs up in her chair. She faced Francis and smiled at him. “But it’s true, the only thing you can cook perfectly are instant food. And all you do is boil water or something. After all, I’d rather eat normal food rather than have a burning house.” She laughed and drank from her cup of coffee. “I wonder how our kids are doing at camp. I miss them, and I miss camp. Lots of memory in that place.” She stared at the cup that her hands were holding and absorbed the warmth of it.

“I think the sun only has one level of brightness,” he answered, chuckling as he followed her into the kitchen. “Hey, my coffee is not too strong,” he said, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. “I actually makes the best coffee in the world, to be honest,” he added, before letting her go and poured two cups of coffee. They sat down at the kitchen table and he took a sip. “See? Perfect.”

“Then maybe Aeolus should make it windy so that the clouds can cover the sun.” She looked outside before drawing back the curtains to cover the window. She felt his arms snake around her waist and leaned her head backwards on his shoulder. “Okay, darling. If you say so.” She laughed softly and sat on the chair as she reached out for a cup of his coffee. “Fine, fine. It’s magnifique. You win.” She rested her head on her hand and smiled at him. “Why can’t you cook something as good as this?” She laughed and made a face at him.

Francis&Sarah || Good morning

francis-washington:

Francis woke up early that Friday morning. They’d gone to bed early, so it wasn’t a surprise to him when he saw that it was only 11. He got up from bed, careful not to wake Sarah in the progress, and walked into the kitchen to put on some coffee. If it was one thing he needed in the morning, it was coffee. He just couldn’t function properly without it. While waiting for the coffee to be done, he walked back into the bedroom to get some clothes, and noticed that Sarah had woken up. “Good morning,” he smiled at her as she buried her face in the pillow to hide from the light. “I’m sorry if I woke you up. I put on some coffee, if you want a cup,” he added, leaning on the door frame.

It was morning and Sarah could feel the sun’s rays beaming through the window. As much as she wanted to sleep more, they were too bright that even burying her face in her pillow wouldn’t work. Plus the smell of the coffee meant that Francis was already up. “Morning love.” She greeted him and sat straight up. “S’not your fault. I blame the sun. Can’t Apollo control its’ brightness?” Sarah whined before taking a deep breath. “And I think coffee would be lovely.” She got out of the bed and passed by Francis. “I hope it’s not too strong though, sometimes your obsession with coffee worries me.” She teased him and planted a kiss on his cheek before heading out towards the kitchen.
